I have seen many reviews on the net and am very confused with this particular monitor. The one tom reviewed claimed it only had a 16ms response time while most of the other reviews along with the specs online say it has a 12ms response time. Also I looked at these two reviews
http://thetechzone.com/computers.php?i=298&p=1

http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/monitors/Samsung_172x_1.html

one says that the monitor doesn't come with a DVI cable and that it has no noticeable ghosting at all while the other says it DOES come with a DVI cable and it acts more like a 25ms response time monitor when using DVD playback or games. I was just wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with it or if perhaps tom was going to review this panel again due to the confusing nature of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Well this is quite interesting for me as well because I put myself this question before independenly on you. Why on some servers they say samsung 172x is great for games while toms hardware says when the picture starts to move it's a disappointment???

Pls answer because I'm not going to buy any LCD until this question is answered. I love 172x but the problem is I haven't seen it by my own. So if it's ok I know it's worth to wait for it because there are shipping problems with this one in Slovakia where I'm from.

Thanks

Just thought I'd give a heads up. I live in Japan and was lucky enough to travel down to Akihabara for the New Years. I was hoping to catch some good sales while I was down there, but when I saw the 172x I fell in love and shelled out the cash. I had read Toms Review before I bought it, but after seeing it, I couldn't believe it was the same monitor. Mine is listed at 12ms, and although I haven't verified it, during movie playback as well as games the picture is clear and crisp. I was a little disappointed to have 3 dead pixels, but Samsungs dead pixel policy isnt bad. 6 pixels I think. Also, there was a DVI cable! I havent tested it with the DVI cable, and Im hard pressed to believe there will be a quality difference. It's definately worth checking out if your shopping around for a new monitor. Little bit pricey. I too would like to see an updated review of this monitor. The other reviews I have read are not as complete as Toms. Sorry for the misspellings. Later.

Great!!! I had broken down at the beginning of the month and decided to go ahead and buy one. I found for a decent price only $565 plus the place has a 0 dead pixel policy so it was a hard deal to pass up. The only thing i'm waiting on now is for them to get it in stock which should hopefully be in the next few weeks. But I am very pleased to have a response from someone with personal impressions. I'll let you know how I like it once I get it but hearing your reactions make me confident in my choice. Thanks again!
