Samsung 172X or 173P

Hey,

I'm thinking it's about time to change from a bulky CRT to a sleek LCD. However, I'm wondering which one is the best to get (in the 17" category. From what I see, the 173P is more expensive but not immensely so. Though, I'm wondering if the extra money put out is actually well spent. Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations? By the way, I'd like to switch to an LCD monitor simply because of space (not weight). Although I keep on reading mixed opinions regarding the quality of LCDs compared to CRTs and the whole "dead pixel" issue which seems to rampant amongst most LCD monitors.

The purpose of this change is to spruce things up, aesthetically. The question arises, however, will the colors be as crisp and vivid and devoid of ghosting (as it is on CRTs) with either the 172X or the 173P?

Once again, I must express my gratitude to you guys as you've helped me with previous entanglements.

EDIT: Also I failed to mention that my current 17" inch Samsung 753DF CRT changes tints ever so often from the regular "white" into a yellowish eye-destroying color. It looks as if a yellow color filter was placed on my monitor. Forgive me, for I am no tech junkie so I have no idea what the reason is (everything is plugged in perfectly and power supply wattage is 470) so I'm stumped and my warranty has expired long ago.

So, for pure quality, is an LCD worth the extra money? Or does simple performance (seemingly) and sexy sleekness win with the LCD over the heavy and bulky nature of a powerful CRT?
