I just bought a samsung 172x, and it is great, but it periodically twitches. Like the whole screen image moves over 5-6 pixels and then instantly jumps back. And every once in awhile the screen goes black and then comes right back.

Anybody know whats going on here? I am wondering if this is the video card or is there something wrong with the monitor? The graphics card is pretty old, and this is the first time I have used the DVI output.

Thanks for any help

Does it do the same thing with the analog input? If so, have you tried it with a different video card, perhaps on someone else's computer?

Depending on the results you get, it will either eliminate or point out the LCD as the culprit.

I recently got a Samsung 172x and love it. I am using a eVGA geforce 4 ti 4200 (dvi) and have never had any problems like that on games or movies.

however, last night i took it over to a friend's house to show it to him, and plugged it into his video card. i dont know what kind his was or how old, but it did have a dvi connecter. while screening parts of The Matrix, the image seemed to flicker occaisionally. it looked like a part of it shifted along a diagonal line. Think of a movie where someone gets cut in half along the torso and begins to slide apart, and you get the idea. but it was very fast and intermittant. i am almost positive it had to be his video card, or maybe the cpu couldnt keep up with the dvd. but like i said i have never experienced any of those problems on my computer.

i would suggest you try it out on someone else's system and see if it does it there.
