I was in the store today looking at the samsung 245bw and noticed that there were 2 different color boxes for them. When I looked further to see what the difference was I saw one said made in Mexico and one China. Which one is better and is one better to avoid? Also, I have read mixed reviews for this monitor. For around $400 is this monitor a good deal? That is really the most I am willing to spend, I was originally looking at 22" monitors, but for $400 I am now considering it. Thanks!

Wow...almost 50 views and not 1 reply 🙁 I thought this was a somewhat popular model and expected one of the experts on this board to know about it. Seeing as no one has a comment on this monitor, any thoughts on the Dell E248WFP for the same price of $400. Between the two any suggestions. I was really interested in the Samsung 245bw, but seeing that they are/were manufactured in two different countries makes me wonder why the change and what the difference(s) in quality are.

Do not get the China made ones. On mine 204b 20", there is a major problem using DVI connection with newer video cards. Basically when you try to run the native resolution 1600x1200 on the 4:3, the monitor flickers and goes black. There is a workaround for the desktop but if you do it in a game or software the monitors goes dead. I had to learn all this during my rebuild where I thought it was some other component in my box.

I will not buy ANYTHING made in Mexico. That is a very corrupt counrty. There was a movie made from an expose about the industrial jobs that moved down there called Boardertown. Here is a link to a news article.

Please think long and hard before buying anything made in Mexico. We are losing our jobs to mexico.
