Here's my set-up
1. Win7 desktop, Intel board - latest drivers.
2. New graphics card, Nvidia GT730 chip - latest driver. It is 4k capable.
3. New samsung 40" 4k tv. Connected via mini-HDMI port on graphics card. The cable is also HDMI 2.0 certified so 4k capable.

the TV shows as 1080p only, I don't see 4k. What am I missing? TV has no driver, I see is as 'generic pnp monitor'. Appreciate the help.

Also I have tried upgrading to win10, same issue. I rolled back to win7, no change.

Is this option on TV or on PC?
no such option in TV. I could only find UHD color in TV options which i turned on, no change.

Btw, I notice the driver on Samsung keep showing as Generic pnp monitor from Microsoft dated 2006, I bet this is the problem. I reinstalled driver couple of times, can't get this to change. My guess is this old driver has no support beyond 1080p, hence I don't see 4k option. I am still stuck.

Did you find a solution on this? I am having the same issue.

this card (GT730) has 1 HDMI and 2 DVI ports, there is no DP port. So the adapter won't do much.
I am still stuck with 1080p only, would appreciate help to get 4k,

The problem could be that your TV is not capable of 4K with full RGB. Try enabling chroma subsampling in nvidia control panel i.e. change colour output to Y'CbCr 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 or 4:1:1... anything other than Y'CbCr 4:4:4 or RGB which is full chroma resolution.
