Samsung 840 Pro

Hey guys,

I just built my new rig and everything was working well. as soon as I installed the Samsung magician software, boot-up time drastically decreased to the point that it freezes for a couple of seconds. Uninstalling does increase the performance but not to what it felt like before the first magician installation. I terribly fear that even after uninstalling some performance adjustments done by the mentioned software were left ...

anyone else has/had a similar problem or anyone can advise on the best way forward? anyone maybe encountered compatibility issues ? I'd like to avoid reformatting but I fear its the only way.

currently running - Samsung 840 pro, gigabyte GA-z87x-ud5h, and original windows 8.1 64 bit.

Have you switched over to AHCI?

I haven't seen any problems with Magician. In fact, I just updated to Magician 4.3 and it enabled "Rapid Mode" which about doubled my read and write speeds, but I'm using Win 7 so yours may be different with Win 8.1.

hmm thanks for the replies, yes its switched to ahci. still don't know what the problem is .. I've been fidgeting around with countless settings to no visible improvement.
