Hi, I have recently purchased a samsung 850 evo SSD and I connected it to the SATA III 6GBps port. I'm very new to ssd that's why I don't knoe much about these port features.
Anyways my motherboard is ASUS H-97 Pro which has a M.2 Socket 3 port. Now Samsung on their website says that with mSATA it can perform upto 32GBps and currently it is connected to a normal 6GBps SATA 3 port.
So should I change my SSD port to M.2 from SATA 3?
Also the Asus only gave me 2 SATA 6GBPS cable with the mobo but no M.2 cable for SSD, neither did samsung. So, if you suggest me to use the M.2 port then also tell me where to purchase a good & compatible M.2 cable for my 850 Evo.

M.2 requires an M.2 drive. You can't use your SATA SSD with your M.2 or SATAe ports, at least not without some kind of adapter. There are adapters to go from M.2 drive to SATA port, but I am unaware of any adapters that go from SATA SSD to M.2.

If you want to make use of your M.2 port, buy an M.2 drive that has the same key type as your M.2 slot.
