Hi Everyone,

I have just built a system with Asus Z170 pro gaming and Samsung 850 EVO 250GB. I am running windows 7 ultimate. Strangly, the device manager lists my SSD as "Samsun SSD 850 EVO 250G SCSI Disk Device" The letter "g" is missing in the name. Otherwise the SSD appears to be working fine. The motherboard BIOS however shows the correct name. I have not yet tried running the Samsung disc that i got with the SSD.

Hey there, @vikrant1982!

If you are concerned about the authenticity of your SSD due to the wrong spelling in Device Manager, I'd strongly recommend checking its warranty status on the manufacturer's official website. You should be able to find a warranty status checker there. If not, contact their Customer support for assistance. They would surely assist you. You could try running their brand-specific utilities from the CD that came with the SSD. It's good to have that installed as it would keep track of your SSD and let you know if you need a firmware update, optimization or diagnostics.

Hope this was helpful! Good luck! :)

Tried the Samsung Magician software, it detected the SSD fine. It also showed the serial number but with a "D" appended at the end of the serial number on the box. I hit the authenticate button next to serial number and it says genuine. Should I consider this to be ok?
