Hello folks,

I have an issue with my new Samsung SSD 850 evo (250 GB), the random read and write numbers are not as high as advertized.
Is this normal or did I get a bad unit?
Is it my Motherboard? (Asus P8P67 Evo)
From the Samsung Magician benchmark.

From the AS SSD benchmark.

Thanks.

Your latest Samsung Magician benchmark indicates that you are getting 92.9% of advertised Sequential Reads, 100% of Sequential Writes, 89.3% of Random Read IOPS, and 85.8% of Random Write IOPS.

Your drive is in great condition.
Your AS SSD results show msachi - OK, which means that you are using Microsoft's default AHCI driver.

Install the latest AHCI driver from your motherboard manufacturer and see if that helps improve your benchmark scores.

Your SSD is in great shape. Your motherboard's chipset (P67 - Revision B3) was released to market in March 2011. It's possible that you need a current generation motherboard to get maximum advertised IOPS.

Ok, but under which category is the AHCI driver?
Is it the Intel Chipset driver by any chance?

The test with the Samsung Magician software shows quite an improvement, but the AS SSD test went both up and down on some values.

Thank you so much, that's great to hear after I had issues with my HDD, which died today. Such a relief
