Hey,

So I just got a new 850 evo SSD. I'm now to SSD's but with the help of this forum managed to sort out the best way to setup my SSD with windows (clean install) and how to move my game files. All good. But I noticed when I was transferring my game files that it wasn't going that much faster than my HDD. I thought maybe it was using the HDD to transfer but that confused me becuase im writing on my ssd... yes?

anyway I downloaded the as bench marking tool and...

That can't be right can it????

Anyway I need help. Here are my PC build - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/t9JtVn

Thanks,

Callum

Right then, that was in case you started investigating whilst writing this.

ACHI is the successor to IDE as disk protocol, unfortunately when installing windows it detects which version you are using and installs the drivers for those.

So you need to give windows the new drivers, shut the machine down, change the setting in bios and then reboot.

To give it the new drivers search for changing from ide to ahci, microsoft have instructions and even a little app to do it for you. Run this, shut down, change in bios and reboot.

Well i think if you have a look at my motherboard, it only has sata 3 ports... right??
Yes that makes sense with the transferring, but even still its slow compared to advertised speeds.

Thanks,
Callum

Sorry to sound dumb but what is AHCI and how do I enable it??
Also it says it cant detect SATA interface as you can see. I'm just using the SATA cables that came with the motherboard.

Thanks,
Callum
