Samsung 850 Evo vs Crucial MX500 SSD (500GB)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 500GB SSD. As far as I've read, the new 860 evo doesn't justify the extra money compared with the 850 evo. However, I'm torn between the Crucial MX500 and the Samsung 850 evo. They're currently retailed on amazon at £115 and £117 respectively, so no difference there. I do a lot of image analysis with some chunky files and end up moving tens of gigabytes around fairly often - but can't imagine reaching max TBW. Any advice here would be great!

Thanks in advance,

Owen

I doubt you would go wrong with either. Both drives have a high MTFB, TBW, and warranty. I have used Samsung EVOs in my personal systems for years and have a Crucial currently powering my ESX host.

Go with the one you can get the best deal on at the time of purchase.
