So I got a new Ssd and Im trying to clone my old HDD onto my Ssd, I plugged both of them to my Pc and cloned the HDD onto my Ssd using EasyUs (free version) and I try turning on my Laptop from my Ssd and get the error code 0xc0000225. I tried using a win 10 iso to repair the files but aparently the Ssd is locked. How does the Ssd become locked on my laptop but everything works on my Pc. If someone knows how to get round the proplem, then thanks.

Sent from my phone so forgive me my stupid spelling mistakes. Thx.

Hi there Erich66,

If I understood the whole situation correctly, you are trying to clone your desktop HDD onto a new SSD(which works fine on your desktop). After that, you install the SSD into your laptop and you try to boot from it.
If this is the case, you will not be able to do that, as the hardware is completely different. You will need to perform a clean OS install.

Let me know in case you have some more questions,

However, I am cloning the original HDD from the laptop with the laptop OS that works on the laptop hardware, that is what I dont get, because its the original laptop files and not my desktop files (bootop files and win OS).

I have a laptop HDD and want to transfer it my Ssd. i plugged in my HDD and Ssd from my laptop to my Pc (sata connectors) so that I can clone the drives. My Pc recognises the Ssd however the laptop doesnt.

Macrium Reflect can do this. It will clone between any 2 drives, not necessarily the existing OS drive.

Or, you get a USB-SATA cable, and do it directly on the laptop.

You shouldn't need to initialize it.

Does your cloning software (which one?) see the new SSD?

EasyUs sees the SSD and I used it to clone the data onto it, but what's bugging me is that the laptop itself doesn't recognize the drive and it's formatted into NFTS which is the standard Windows format type.

After the cloning operation, you installed the SSD internally in the laptop, right?

I did however the laptop didn't recognise the SSD and the original files already installed on it. The error code was 0xc0000225. Tried repairing using a Win10 ISO from a USB however that failed as well saying that the SSD is locked. Could it be a BIOS issue? (HP ENVY 17-065na laptop)

Then I'd suggest trying a different cloning application. Macrium Reflect or the Samsung Data Migration.

Samsung data migration want to clone my Desktop SSD Win10 OS files and not the Laptop Win10 OS files, Macrium, I will try once I get back from this outing but I think it might be the BIOS or something within the laptop.
