Hello !

I bought a samsung 850 pro 256gb at a very great price. I was amazed by the 10 year warranty, but now i see this is 10 year OR 150TBW. Was wondering then, how long does it usually take to reach this 150TBW ? I would be totally pissed off if i reach it in 3 years...

So, how long does it usually take to reach 150TBW ? (System running about 12 hours/day, mostly gaming, web browsing and movie watching)

Thanks !

Data: 150 TBW – Tera Bytes Written
Time: 10 years

Working backwards, this gives:

150 TB / (10 x 365) = 40GB daily write workload

Therefore, if you write on average of 40GB to your drive, your warranty will be over in 10 years. If you double this amount per day, you will half your warranty period etc.

Yes.
And writing 40GB per day, every day, takes significant effort for a normal use.

Yes it would. I was just quantifying the answer to give an idea of what it would take to reach the warranty limit. It would take on average of 40GB of writing data to drive every day in order to exhaust the warranry period, which should not be possible in most cases even if you are an extreme heavy user. You would reach 10 years before 150TBW.
