Hello everyone! I was googling a lot of similar issues to slow samsung m.2 nvme 960 evo speeds.
I dont know what i am missing but for some reason the sequential read speeds show 2000-2400mb/s and write speeds of 1200-1500mb/s when the drive is actually rated at 3200mb/s read and 1900mb/s write. the 4KB Random Write (QD32) is also showing slower write speeds by about 120k IOPS (270k~ish even though the advertised speed is 360k IOPS)
Mine is currently installed on a fresh windows 10 installation(no cloning) in the m.2 slot on the mobo... all up to date windows drivers, device manager included as well as samsung magician installed, and all showing good with being connected to the gen 3x4 inside samsung magician software. I have a msi z170a gaming m5 mobo with latest update bios.. all seems good but...
For starters, the benchmarks in samsung magician shows slower seq read and write speeds by a fair amount(seq 1928mb/s read and 1522mb/s write). I believe the seq read speed is supposed to be 3100mb/s...
And then to make it worse, when i tried using crystal disk mark instead, it showed the seq speeds as fine(3220mb/s seq write, now showing even lower write of 1263mb/s), but then showed the random 4kib Q32T1 as (653mb/s read and 552mb/s write)... which is much much lower than other users with issues.
Im at a complete loss of what to troubleshoot or try next.. it says my 960 driver is version 2.3 in device manager and its up to date.. heres some pics of the tests(sorry for the bad pic quality due to phone snapshot):
