Hi guys

I have an Asus ROG G552VW which has a 1TB installed as standard and an M.2 expansion.

I've installed the Samsung 970 Evo but it is not being recognised anywhere, that being device manager, disk management and BIOS. I upgraded my BIOS and it is set to AHCI but still not showing.

I installed the SSD in my desktop and it showed up instantly. I installed the OS on it from a USB drive and everything worked fine. I then put it back in the laptop but still not showing.

Do you have any suggestions at all? Here is a link for my laptop:

Thank you!

The above answer is likely accurate. Look at the vague description of the characteristics of the M2 drive in the sys spec. No mention of the nature of the connection lanes . A quality board would say SATA and / or SATA only .

1TB HDD 5400 RPM
  • 1TB HDD 7200 RPM
  • 128GB SSD (M.2 2280)
PCIE x 4 256G

Perhaps you can replace the 970 with a samsung 850 evo sata M.2.

Thank you guys, I will give that a go! There is a sticker that says M.2 2280 support and when I googled that the 970 Evo came up so I thought it would be compatible.
