[SOLVED] Samsung 970 Evo Plus not getting the full read and write speeds

I recently purchased a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB and I'm only getting shy of 900 read and 800 write when the advertised speed are 3.5 gb read and 3.3 gb write any suggestions why this is happening?

My specs:
i5 4690k
Asus Maximus Hero VII
16 DDR3 RAM @ 1866 Mhz
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB
Sandisk Ultra II 480GB
WD Blue 1TB
WD Black 4TB

Because that's an older motherboard, and the M.2 slot is almost certainly PCIe x2, not x4.

My similar vintage ASRock is exactly the same.
