Hey all!

For Christmas I got the Samsung 970 Evo for my computer however it doesn't come with a screw and I have lost my motherboard box which I probably has the screw.

Does anyone know if I can install this temporarily without a screw and use it or is a screw needed.

Where would I find the screw?

My motherboard is: ASUS® ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING: LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GB, Wi-Fi - RGB Ready!

Thank you all and a very Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

While I would not recommend it (I have done it myself, though), you could just leave the drive sitting in a drive bay or even hanging freely without screwing it in. Just make sure there is no metal to metal contact.

As for screws, there's probably some included with a 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay converter or you could check with a local PC shop. If you ask nicely for a couple of screws, they might give them to you. Lastly, you could always go with a PC Screw Kit, but that option can be a bit expensive if you don't usually do a lot of PC hardware work.

No idea but, one above the graphics card for M.2_2 (Socket3) and the one below it says M.2_1 (Socket3).
The first one has no writing next to it apart from M.2_2 (Socket3).
However, the second one has writing next to it saying SATA6G_56 SATA6G_34

Ok. My mistake. I was thinking this:

In your case, I would not attempt to use it without the screw to connect it to the motherboard.

Yes. If you look at a close up of the third image in the Amazon line you provided, the lower left bin is labelled for M2x3 screws which is what you need. You shouldn't need anything else.

Alright thank you very much, I was just making sure because alexoiu's link contained two screws that go into each other.

I think my motherboard comes with one in the packaging however I lost the box it came in. I also live in a rural area with the local half decent PC store being a 1 hour drive away.

Well, thank you for your help and I wish you all the best and a fantastic new year!
