Updated BIOS, still nothing... Not in the BIOS and not in Disk Management in Windows 10 Pro.
Just wanted a storage upgrade and now it has taken up all my afternoon lol
Faulty module or am I missing something very obvious?

BIOS Version: 1605
i5-9600KF

Make sure sata controller mode is set to AHCI in BIOS.

It may be necessary to install nvme drivers. Download from Samsung.
For the sake of relevance, can you please state the BIOS version for your motherboard? What SSD were you working prior to the Samsung 980? You're sure it's not the Samsung 980 Pro, correct? Might want to also state the processor used on your platform.

BlueStripe_99 Hello. Question: Did you use the included M.2 Anchor that Asus included with your board to install the Samsung 980 (non Pro) ? Were it me, I would start with removing and re-inserting the drive. If you agree, you would want to shut off the PC, unplug the power supply from outside the computer case (back of the PSU). Then after the power is unplugged, hold the computer's power button for 5-10 seconds, to discharge any remaining current. At this point, I would reseat the M.2 SSD, then plug the power back in and boot into the BIOS to see if the drive appears. Were it me, that would by my first step.

FYI: I'm not personally familiar with the "Asus anchor" as I've never seen it in person before. Therefore please use caution when removing / reinstalling the SSD. If anything seems weird about the process or the final installation, please feel free to take photos, upload to imgur and share the link here.
