Levnovo ThinkStation P520 (30BF - S29H00) - PCIe3.0 buss, dual M.2 slots;
Samsung 980Pro (2T) and Samsung 970EVOPlus (2T) on-hand...
are these two compatible for RAID (0,1,10)
No Intel VROC key yet purchased. (required for BIOS/RAID setup)
Also, understand 980Pro more "effective" w/PCIe 4.
Workin' with what I have on hand.
Interested in Purchasing Intle VROC key, as well as complete re-install of Zorin OS 17 (ubuntu 22.04),
IF the above NVMe s would be compatible for RAID.
thanks,
john

Raid, in any form is not likely to be a good thing... ever.
Of course, there may be some exceptions.
Raid-0(striping) with ssd devices is ineffective as a performance enhancer since ssd devices have no latency worth noting.
Don't know how it would work properly with two different speed devices.

Raid-1(mirroring) is largely worthless. It only covers device failure, but does not confer any real back up coverage.
You need external devices for good backup.

Raid 10(Mirroring and striping) does not apply, you need 4 devices and the pc above has only two m.2 slots)

1. RAID 0 needs to be done with identical drives. Or at least, identical performance.

2. RAID 0 + SSD is completely irrelevant for 99+% of users.

What is the reasoning for this RAID?
Aha.. yup, good point... my bad
(must have had Thunderbolt (3) interface numbers on the brain)
thanks for quick response
