Hi all,

A bit of a strange one... My samsung evo 970 randomly disappeared today from Windows so I thought maybe it had died. I went out and got a 980 pro, threw it in and that's when the issues started. The drive is showing in bios, windows and I can allocate/format it but I can't install anything on it. There are no error messages, I can "open" it from My PC and it's just blank.

For some weird reason, right as windows starts, I can copy a file over or 2 but after a minute or two, the drive becomes unusable again. I thought maybe the drive was bad, went out to the store and exchanged it, same issue.

Also when trying Samsung magician (ssd software) it can read it for the first few mins, but doing any benchmarks just shows errors.

I have tried the following:

-Formatting the drive
-Reinstalling windows
-Resetting Bios
-Installing intel chipset drivers
-Swapping the slot with my working SSD (same issue occurs) Samsung nvme will not work in any of the 2 slots..
-Updating motherboard bios

I probably spent 4 hours on this, and I'm really out of ideas. My current setup is:

8700k
Aorus z390 Pro wifi
32Gbs of gskill ram
RTX 3080 strix

there could be a conflict, because what's going on is M.2 SSD drives that use NVMe protocol installed on a non-NVMe slot, check Windows Disk Manager for that drive to check that Windows has NVMe protocol installed to access that new nvme ssd drive

So your having a problem with both ssd's?
Are there any other disk installed/connected to this pc?
