Hello Community,

I am a little surprised and perplexed why the NVME does not begin to exhaust its potential.

So that you can better understand my system, you can find the key data:

NVME: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Pcie 4.0
Mainboard: Gigabyte B560M Aorus Pro
NVME slot: CPU M2
Operating system: Windows 11 Pro

Solution
Let's talk front and back of the motherboard. When you say 'under' it could be thought of as back side of the motherboard OR physically lower than the CPU on the front side (assuming a standing tower).

The M.2 socket on the front (the side you put the CPU on) supports PCIe 4.0. The M.2 socket on the back of the motherboard is only PCIe 3.0.

if you tried on the primary nvme slot and it performed almost the same as advertised, it could be that the x1 lane is limiting the nvme performance.

Did you plug it on pcie x1 or x4? cause both pcie is 3.0.

Why are both 3.0?

CPU:
  1. 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2P_CPU)*
    * Supported by 11th Generation processors only.
So it should support full Pcie 4.0 right? Im using a i7 11700.

Im plugged it in M2P CPU so the CPU connector (PCIE 4.0 x4 /x2 instead of Chipset socket

this should explain.

But on the manual you can see:

CPU:
  1. 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2P_CPU)*
    * Supported by 11th Generation processors only.

So it should support PCIE 4.0 standards or not? So i have to go with another mainboard like the Intel 1200 Z590 Extreme ?

The Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVME sits directly in the CPU M2 slot. I don't use an adapter, the NVME is plugged directly into the mainboard. Pcie 4 x 1 is related to this because Samsung Magican shows PCIe Gen. 4 x 1 under Driver Details. Or do i need another Mainboard like the Asrock Intel 1200 Z590 Extreme ?

Hmmm. The product page says it's on the back.
Which slot do you have the 980 Pro installed in? The one close to the CPU is where it should be.

Have you verified what BIOS says for the PCIe slots?

Its the CPU Slot but its not on the Backside.

What donyou mean with verified? The Bios said SAMSUNG 980 PRO. Do you mean that? Are 6847 MB under Samsung Magican good results or under potential?
