I have a Samsung 980 pro gen 4 that is showing as a SCSI device in windows 11 23hXX. it shows as nvme on the asus tuf x570 board bios and the controller is set to AHCI mode. it is my C drive for windows not running in a vm. It also shows as incompatible in Samsung magician.

Is there any way to get it to recognize properly?

SCSI is general standard for I/O and storage devices, PATA, SATA, NVME, etc. are all part of that standard, When OS doesn't recognize particular type it labels it as SCSI. Check for and update drivers in Device Manager under Storage Controllers.
