Samsung crt monitors showing display problems

I have Samsung CRT colour monitor. It worked very well for the last three years but now as I switch on my system the monitor takes a minute or two display the desktop. what may be the possible problem? Please tell me as it is quite irritating.

What happens if you boot your system up with the monitor turned off and wait until you know the system is up and then turn the monitor on.

I'm just trying to establish that it's not just Windows that's slowed down.
