[SOLVED] Samsung Evo 830 consumes 18x LESS power than Evo 860!?

Hi all,

According to the Samsung spec pages:

The EVO 830 512gb consumes 0.13W power (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/512gb-ssd-830-series )

And the EVO 860 500gb consumes 2.2W (https://www.samsung.com/us/computin...sd-860-evo-2-5--sata-iii-500gb-mz-76e500b-am/ )

-Is this just a major typo error, or am I hallucinating?

Why does the generations newer version, manufactured on a more efficient process, consume so much more power? The I/O speeds aren't THAT different.

What you refer to as, "so much more power' amounts to 2.07 watts.

2.07 watts is a tiny amount of power.

Still though, it's all relative- 18x more than a much older unit. Why is the 830 so much more power efficient?

Samsung has screwed up its documentation.
