Hi, I have a Samsung evo 840 that I was running as an internal drive in a cd rom caddy. This has been great until last week when I had a power failure and now cannot see the drive at all, no matter what I try, or in other machines.

I don't see it in the Bios either.

I'd really appreciate any useful suggestions please.

Update: RMA is not an option, it is 2 years old and I need the data on it.

Thank you

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, Mrmac2you!

This seems very unfortunate! 🙁 Since you have a power failure on your hands, I'm afraid that the best possible solution to recover your files would be a professional data recovery company. Even though the warranty on the SSD has expired, you can still contact the manufacturer's customer support for any data recovery referrals.
Using third-party tools is impossible since you cannot detect the solid-state drive anywhere. Tempering with it physically would also be a bad idea!

Best of luck! Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll successfully retrieve your files!

Thanks for the welcome note.

I had thought this might be the only option but wanted to ask around too, I suspect most answers will be the same though.
