Hello forum,

I just bought a Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB SSD and performed a clean install using my Lenovo recovery media. My laptop had a 500 GB HDD and a 16 GB M.2. caching SSD. I replaced the 500 GB HDD, after it failed, with the Samsung SSD.

I have an Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family AHCI Controller and Windows says the drivers are up to date.
Now, I am facing 2 issues while using the Samsung Magician software:

1. Even though it says a firmware update is available, when I try to update from firmware EMT01B6Q to EMT02B6Q, it repeatedly fails.

2. I also could not authenticate the serial number of my SSD using the magician software.

I would be grateful if anyone can help me find a solution to these issues.

I also have a question regarding the partitions automatically created by windows 7 professional during the installation. I have attached the screenshot below. I am wondering if this is okay.

Thank you.

Thank you for replying me. Yes, I have installed Magician 4.9.5.

I have searched for new driver update for Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family AHCI Controller on Lenovo and Intel's site, but haven't found any.

However, I have finally found a solution. For any one having this problem, this is how to solve it. Some how, Intel Rapid Storage Technology wasn't installed on my laptop after I used the Lenovo recovery media to make a fresh install on the SSD. I downloaded and installed it from here:

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25165/eng/SetupRST.zip

Now, I can not only update the firmware but also authenticate the serial number using the Magician software.
