Is this still a decent phone?

Can it multi task? (Play music in background?)

It's got a removable battery which I like.

I'm not a power user, and plan to spend more on my laptop, but was wondering if it's still an ok phone?

Are you talking about the s5, or note 5?
both are pretty old, but i'm pretty sure they run android nougat.

They should be able to multitask a little, at least do music in the background while doing some web browsing, but not a whole lot more.

If you get this phone i would suggest swapping to lineageOS (basically download android 9 on an older phone)

If you only like that phone for its removeable battery, i think LG has a new phone with a removeable battery

Don't buy used or old (maybe maximum 2 years old) phones(even flagships).
Its not worth the troubles, your biggest problems will be the battery and lack of android updates!
Also apps will be working different and slower (older Android version).
My biggest concern will be security updates!
If you plan on shopping and paying for stuff (even on the browser) thru your phone, security is a big issue!
