News Samsung has no plans to spin off its critical foundry business

This isn't particularly surprising given that they're having the same sort of issue as Intel when it comes to leading edge. Should they get yields under control and execute further nodes to be able to compete then it might be healthy enough to spin off/sell.

I think Samsung chairperson hit a point that I was pondering on as well when Intel announced that they are spinning out their foundry business. If you are spinning out a segment that is bleeding money badly, how will it survive? it is like saying to someone you met in the desert, "take this half bottle of water and loaf of bread, you are on your own". And who in the world will buy a massive money losing business that does not seem to have any turnaround plans other than their promise to fix it someday.

At some point things need to be produced in the real world. Not everyone in the world can outsource. It's likely TSMC cannot produce enough to satisfy world demand so other foundries will exist.
