The take home message here is doing business in Texas might look good on the surface until your hit with some easily preventable unforeseen circumstance. Now the big bad state of Texas is crying for government assistance which I think is totally wrong since this was 100% their fault. Now to distract from this calamity our great mental midget of a governor has decided as of yesterday to lift the COVID mask mandate.

big yikes

I don't think anyone could have changed the fact there was a massive snowstorm. That can knock power out even in very prepared areas.

Rubbish...it was simply the cold (not snow, not wind, not an earthquake) that caused this epic power outage. Sure there may have been some power issues but not to this extent had they taken the necessary precautions which some group of folks had concluded after a major freeze that happened back in 2011. Never mind the fab, people actually froze to death because of this! Sad thing is that absolutely nothing will come from this event and it will happen again guaranteed.

I would be interested to know where you think a better location for the Samsung Facility would be, since Texas is such a bad choice. Please don't just start naming qualities like "someplace where this won't happen", but an actual city name that appears on the map.

not even close to true. the rest of the world can keep power up and running when its cold and snowy. texas <Mod Edit> up so bad the nuclear plant in houston shut down overnight. they chose profits over people like texans always will and people died for it. hell they even found out they kept the price of power at 9k two days longer than they needed or should have and then decided they didnt wanna give those people their money back. they just kept the price high.

This wasn't caused by a massive snow storm, it was caused by Texas power companies choosing not to do the bare minimum to winterize their equipment and choosing instead to make consumers pay the price for their short sightedness
