I have a Samsung 840 Pro installed to a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R running Windows 7 and using Samsung Magician 4.5.
When I start Magician it is giving the message: Magician is not properly communicating with Samsung SSD, so some of the Magician features may not work correctly. If your are using and custom storage driver, then Magician may not work properly. Please always use the latest storage driver or Microsoft driver. (see attached image)
The "storage controller" driver is the "GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller" from JMicron 03/11/2008 ver 1.17.43.5 though I believe the SSD is connected via the southbridge ports (rather than the 2 Gigabyte ones) which use the Intel ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller driver (listed under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers) 20/05/2011 ver 10.6.0.1002.
The SSD is using the SATA Samsung SSD 840 SCSI Disk Device driver by Microsoft 21/06/2006 ver 6.1.7600.16385
Also interesting to note is that Magician claims the SSD is only connected to a SATA1 port... on an EX-58... so that can't be right either.
Any ideas on how to get my SSD up and running properly?
Thanks!
