My Samsung ML-1210 has suddenly stopped feeding paper correctly. The
feed turns, but does not pick up the paper. I've tried various
different papers, including one I've used before without problems. I've
also checked for obstructions, turned the printer over, checked for
loose components etc. Anyone encountered and solved this problem, bu
any chance?

If not, looks like I'll have to replace it The annoying thing is that
I've got two unopened toner cartridges, which are worth more between
them than the printer! If anyone in the UK wants to buy them, at say
UKP35 each plus postage, let me know.

I don't know this specific model but I will bet that the problem is a worn
paper pick up roller tyre. This is a universal problem with laser printers and
is related to the number of pages that have been fed. It looks like this
printer has one tray only if so the following part will almost certainly fix it-

Go to

more info.

It may be wise to replace the Separation pad tyre also-

I suggest that you google for the parts from other suppliers in the UK, there
may also be instructions on how to replace them.

I can't reply specifically about this printer, but most of the time the
problem is the pick up rollers become glazed or dried out. The fix is
to just clean them.

Rubbing (Isopropyl alcohol) or an orange oil cleaner (used in scant
amount, since it slightly melts some rubbers) usually does it.

If the paper use you tends to be a bit dusty, or has a light clay
component to make it slip better (over the lower sheet) during loading
or to give a cleaner impression, this can transfer to the pick up roller
and make it slippery.

Thanks - I'll give it a try.
