Samsung mSata 840 evo or normal 840 pro SSD?

Hi all,
I am looking to upgrade my laptop lenovo y510p storage. It has a 24gb msata ssd. Nothing fast. I was thinking about replacing it with the samsung 840 evo msata. However whats the gain or loss if I take it all out and put in just a 840 pro SSD? And the HDD in a caddy. What's the best way. I am a photographer and work mostly in Photoshop cs6 and lightroom. Occasional gaming.

The mSATA Evo option would allow having a SSD with up to 1 TB for OS and Apps and to keep your HDD or even upgrade it to 1.5 TB.

Some laptops reserve the mSATA port for use ONLY as a cache for the HDD. You may not be able to upgrade this because of hardware/BIOS limitations.

Can you currently see the 24 GB mSATA drive in Windows Explorer?

I believe the SSD in that computer is M2, not mSATA. Check before you make an expensive mistake.

Yes I found that out in time thankfully. I have decided to just swap the internal HDD with a samsung evo ssd. The HDD I can add later with a caddy/ultra-bay.

Shall I remove the m2 ssd onboard all together? Don't see the point of having a cache ssd for another SSD. What do you suggest?

I can't see the cache SSD in explorer.

I don't think, in the situation that you describe, that the cache SSD is adding anything - especially as it is probably slower than the new SSD. I'd be inclined to remove it.
