Samsung NP300V5A Windows Seven OEM Driver Issues

My friends version of windows had slowly slowed down to a crawl over the years on his Samsung NP300V5A-A05UK Laptop (http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/NP300V5A-A05UK) so he had the "genius" [not] idea of formatting the whole drive and installing windows Ultimate he got from elsewhere. However the version it came with was OEM Windows Seven Home x32. So none of the drivers seem to be working in Ultimate

He has asked me to help. I am not sure how to proceed. I'm not sure if he formatted the Samsung factory reset recovery partition, or if not how to access it (I expect he did). Or if I can use his product key on the bottom of the laptop to activate the correct version of windows if re-installed ... if I can find a correct disk for that version of windows.

Any advice on a few basic here? OEMs confuse me. Apparently it did not come with a windows seven disk, just pre-installed windows ready to set up.

Drivers for Windows 7 32-bit should work for any edition of Windows 7 32-bit (Home, Pro etc), so perhaps your friend installed Windows 7 64-bit? If so, you can get 64-bit drivers for that laptop model from Samsung's website.

Ok thanks a lot for above advise, it did help, as he did indeed re-install a x64 version which explains why none of the drivers I tried to download for it worked.

I've now found out that the samsung recovery partition is still there. As when I installed the x32 OEM windows version the HD drive options it gave to install to were three: System, Standard Hard-Drive and a 20 GB Samsung 'system restore' partition.

So, now on pressing f4 on startup (stated by Samsung to be the way to do a factory reset) does now indeed get into the recovery partition, and it seems I am able to do the Samsung recovery from there. With the x64 version this did not work.
