SAMSUNG Portable T3 - Good enough to run a VM?

Hi all,

My work laptop is a Lenovo T460P with 16 GB of RAM and a SSD with a capacity of 256 GB, since I work with VM's it usually doesn't take long to run out of space.

I usually run my VMs without any problem, but since I usually use my VM to test clients scenarios I have to create several checkpoints (this increases the size of VM at about 20 GB per checkpoint).

I was wondering if I buy a Samsung Portable T3, if I'm able to run the VMs directly from the external drive or its better to use it only as a storage device (int hat case I would go with a cheaper alternative)?

Note: I cannot replace the original HD because of the 4 year in office warranty that turns void if I open the laptop

Thanks for your help,

L. Pinho

Hi, I have a MacBook 13 and run 2 vms ona 256GB T3 without problems. One windows 10 pro one server 2012 r2. Before that I had a sandisk extreme 64 GB but needed more space. Even a usb 2 ssd is good enough for running vms.
