[SOLVED] Samsung QVO vs EVO for old MacPro 4.1

Helping a friend upgrade his video editor -- an old mac pro running Final Cut 7 with SATA II drive slots. Seems that either QVO or EVO would exceed the SATA II bandwidth of 300MB/s in large file copying. But I don't quite understand the numbers for the limitations of the QVO in smaller Read/Write functions that might typically happen during editing.

Would there be real world performance differences (even small ones) between the QVO and EVO in a SATA II system?

With a SATA II interface, you'll not see any difference between those drives.
Either will saturate the throughput.

Performance is similar, but QVO model has lower endurance ratings.

QVO is not suitable for very large writes.
It uses part of the drive as an SLC cache buffer but once the write fills the buffer you drop to the native QVO write speed, 80MB/s for the 1tb drive. Something easily bested by most cheap harddrives.

The fixed buffer size is 6Gb and the variable buffer is 36GB in the 1TB version.

860 Evo writes at about 300MB/s once the buffer has filled.

The Mx500 wrties at aout 375MB/s if you might be interested in yet another drive.
