Hello everyone. So I have an urgent "problem". My girlfriend is traveling to Bali tomorrow for studies, and her laptop just died. I have been on google the last two days trying to find a solution, but still no luck. So I come to you in desperate (lol) times, to ask your advice. This is my first post here so I hope I'm not posting in the wrong forum. Ok, to the problem.

The notebook is a Samsung Series 5 (NP535U3C), and is running Windows 8. My girl says shes not sure what really happend, but suddenly it would simply not boot. My worst thought is that it's dead, but I'm not really sure. I tried making a Ubuntu Live CD from an usb stick. When I booted from this stick and tried to install Ubuntu, the software did not find any other drive than my 8GB stick.

When I try to run Windows Recovery from Bios, the computer either freezes or goes into Bios. If I do nothing, the Samsung logo is displayed, then it either loads forever (see picture below), or just dim down and freeze.

Hope my information is clear, and hope you can help me! Thanks

Christofer

If you want to try. Turn the laptop off, unplug it, pull the battery out, and hold the power button down for a few seconds that will get rid of any power in it. If you can try and pull the hard drive out and then reinstall it, it may have just come unseated.

I tried to pull the hard drive out actually, it did not change anything. Think is that this laptop has a built-in battery and I cannot remove it. What it does have is some sort of battery reset button under it..

If you can try reseating the harddrive. This might work but it looks like something failed in the laptop if its not finding the harddrive or cd-rom drive. If you have another laptop drive hanging around you can try that one to see if the laptop will see it. Or you can call Samsung and see what kind of warranty they have if it is broke.
