Hi guys, I am building a new Desktop PC and I got the following issue:

I have a Samsung SM951 (NVMe) 256GB SSD and I want to buy a Samsung 960 EVO 250 GB SSD and use both in the new desktop PC.

Problem is, most of the motherboards in my budget range don´t have two M.2. PCIe 3.0 x4 slots. They often have one M.2. PCIe 3.0 x4 slot and one M.2. PCIe 2.0 x4 slot.

The maximum throughput of PCIe 2.0 x4 is 2000 MB/s, correct?

Since the Samsung SM951 is slower than the Samsung 960 EVO at a maximum sequential read speed of 2150 MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 1260 MB/s I would then attach the Samsung SM951 to the PCIe2.0 x4 M.2 slot. If I do this, would I be able to see speeds up to 2000 MB/s ? Are there any other caveats?

In other words, would I be able to notice the difference between a PCIe 2.0 x4 slot and a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot with the Samsung SM951 SSD?
