Samsung ssd 840 EVO overkill?

Hi, my pc specs are

Asus P8Z68-V LE
i5-2500K
CM Hyper 212 Evo
Sapphire HD 6870 1GB
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Antec Earthwatts EA-750

As you can see my hdd is the bottleneck here.
So thinking of getting a 128 gb ssd for the boot partition.
Finalised sasmung ssd 840 Evo but is it overkill here?
Also when is an ssd overkill for a given pc?

never overkill and i say get it i have a 90gb ssd for os also wish i could have got the 120 but prices and time

Under standard usage, that SSD should last over a decade. You may think it's overkill today (no such thing i say ), but at some point during the next decade+, you'll be glad it's there.
