Hi guys, I've been using a SSD EVO 840 500 GB for just 3 months.
I cloned my Windows 8.1 from my old drive, everything works fine but the only thing i wonder why does my SSD data written increase rapidly?
Last night I checked the "Total Written bytes" : 0.93TB, but after a day now is 0.95TB, I do know that 0.01TB ~ 10GB but I didn't use that much,
how can I write 20GB to my system drive in just a day, I didn't install anything. I'm a coder, I use Visual Studio, SQL server, Netbeans and some other softwares all day,

I disabled Prefetch and Superfetch for SSD, I ran an OS Optimization(come with SS Magician), I moved Virtual memory or Page file, Documents folder, Temporary folders for both Windows and User, Cache folder for IDM,..etc..to HDD, create or save files on my old HDD, moved workspace too. The SSD is only for loading OS. I've been noticed this since the first install, when it was 0.45TB written(nearly 2 months ago), 2 months with no installation, no writting. I asked the seller about it, but no result, are they tricking on me? Can I last its lifetime to 3 years with this momentum ?
And by the way, I can't enable RAPID mode, it said: RAPID mode enable failure although my lap passed all minimum specs, I did reinstall SS Magician to the latest version, latest firmware upgraded.

Thanks for helping :)

Solution
I had a similar issue to this on my sisters laptop, turned out to be the antivirus software had a buggy install (was using kaspersky Internet Security 2015), reinstalling fixed it for us and significantly reduced the amount of writes to the OS drive. Hope this helps because I know I'm a bit late but better late than never ey. Merry Christmas by the way and post back if you find/have found a fix
I don't know what it would add up to, but you have to figure that write is total writes. Not just saving files. It would be a sum of everything including browser cache, temp files, any time a file in the os is modified it will 'rewrite' it to alter it on the ssd and I would think counts as data written. That means if you're so much as on facebook, everytime it auto refreshes, loads a new add, a new photo, new graphic etc.. Correct me please if I'm mistaken but I think that's how it works. I'm willing to bet more is written in the background during menial tasks than we realize because we never monitored it much prior to ssd's due to their limited write life.

oh, but i moved all my 3 browsers cache and user data folder to HDD, and now it's 1.04TB written.... 🙁

hi, thank you for replying, you're not too late, I've been using avast and i'm not gonna replace it, i got the problem before installing avast. And it's still my biggest problem. I contacted samsung for help and wonder what the hell is happening with this shit but no hope. The SSD gets worse these day, its random readin speed decreased to 70k IOPS. What a dump...
