Okay so basically I am trying to give it the firmware update its crying for.

I backed up the drive using Acronis so i'm good to go. Whenever I download the update its two .enc files. I have never heard of it and have no clue what to do with it or where it goes.

Also some pics

Hi:

It appears to work only if you create a BOOT disc.

1) Create the boot disc (click Firmware Update in Samsung Magician and choose USB or DVD boot disc)
2) Reboot (CD/DVD or USB-HDD drive must be before hard drive in the BIOS' boot order)
3) follow instructions to flash (Mine failed, I rebooted and it worked)

Other tips:
a) apply overprovisioning (Samsung Magician). This blocks off some of your SSD to ensure you don't get slow-downs later.

b) follow the OS Optimization instructions

c) Consider Disabling Hibernation, and also set your Pagefile to a lower value like 4GB.
(Hibernation and Pagefile writes help wear out the SSD).

If you like Hibernation, just use it. SSD's will be far cheaper by the time yours wears out which will likely be at least three years, however if SPACE is an issue you can save some by following the above recommendation.
