Question Samsung SSD 980 Pro 4 Gen Pcie 4 Dell 7770 Help

I have been fighting a problem creating a raid 0 volume with 2 Samsung SSD 980 Pro 4 Gen.
I am using Intel RST/VMD version 19.5
Laptop is Dell Precision 7770 Brand new.
I can create the raid 0 but the laptop will not boot into windows 10
When it boot I get the black screen with the below error
Missing or corrupt bcd entry
bcd error 0xc0000225
I have reinstalled a few times
created the RAID 0 set through the BIOS and the RST application.
I have ran all the fix boot commands
Ran Scan disk, no errors.
recreated the EFI partition
Deleted the bcd store and recreated it.
booted from a different drive into the raid 0 volume
Tried both windows 10 and 11
Moved the SSD into different slots on the MB
If I install windows on a different drive I can access the files on the raid 0 volume, no issues
I have created a raid 1 volume with the 2 ssd's and it works fine.

Any ideas?

Why would you do this?

You do realize this RAID array may be slower overall than individual drives, right?

I don't see how it would be slower, The same rules should apply for a RAID 0 no matter the SSD. Regardless we won't know until it works.

Unlike HDD, SSDs are already so 'fast', the RAID overhead kills any performance benefit.

tl-dr
You may see awesome benchmark numbers.
The actual user facing result...not so much.


In addition to the complexity and fail potential.
If you do go down this road, I sincerely hope you have a comprehensive, automated, daily backup routine.
And RAID 0 was never intended for the OS drive from the beginning.

That's not how this works.

RAID was designed for large sequential data and slow hard drives. When you RAID an SSD, the RAID is the slowest part. It certainly wasn't designed for SSDs and OS drives; this is a fundamentally poor idea.

Hey, ignore what all of these guys are saying. They don't know much about RAID, I personally use it and I love it! Is raid 0 for your boot drive, or is it another drive?

Please stick to working with each Samsung 980 Pro drive sans RAID. My colleagues above have made it clear that you're wasting resources going the RAID route, that too with RAID 0.

I am, I am not here to debate weather this is usefull. I have done this numerous time and found that the performance increase is worth the trouble. Raid 0 for boot device or not same results. I have been doing IT for a long time and this just does not make sense it should work.

And yes you have a weird issue. Trying to do something not worth the trouble. And then you're going to trust it to be your boot drive.

Actually they do know quite a bit about RAID, but share, why do you love it?

Veritech, I have exactly the same problem: Precision 7770, 2 - 980 Pro, RAID0. Everything works fine until Windows Setup reboots, then it can't continue. Did you ever figure this out?
