Hello,

My computer recently crashed and on my replacement I'm trying to install a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, The drive is formatted and good to go, shows up in BIOS but not on the priority list. I asked a co-worker of mine to see if he could boot from it and he can with no problems. I have a Dell Inspirion 3252 desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why did you pre-format the SSD?

Did you just try to install windows on it?

update the bios of the Dell

disable secure boot

can you see the ssd in boot options if you press the "F12" key while the Dell Logo is shown?

Can you use "add boot option" in BIOS ?

The 1st picture looks promising but when i select the ssd it just asks me if i want to go back to the boot menu and does nothing. the last picture is what i get if i select EFI.

I disabled secure boot, still can't add it or boot from it.

I see why you sounded confused now, this is my first time trying to add a hd to the boot menu and i thought i hit a dead end when it didn't jump out at me with an "add to boot menu" option. I needed to go into the EFI setting and do it there. Thanks for getting me on the right track, it is up and running now, thanks again!!
