Just recently got a new Samsung 850 EVO 500GB.

I dont have any optical DVD Drives in my pc installed, so I cant install the stuff which came on a CD with the SSD, so what am I supposed to do now?

(I also dont know how to do anything with ISO files)

Solution

First backup any data you need to save from D: .
Then open elevated command prompt and execute:
  • diskpart
    select disk 3
    clean
    convert basic
    convert gpt
    exit
Then download Minitool partition wizard free.
https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
And copy partitions from Disk 2 to Disk 3 (Efi-system and c: ). You can do that with Minitool partition wizard free.
And when you're done, post resulting screenshot from Disk Management.

Most of that stuff you don't need.
But find the motherboard manufacturers website.
Download the LAN (ethernet) driver.
Save that to a USB stick.
Install from that.
Then, you can go get anything else you need.

What do you mean by "Then, you can go get anything else you need"

Yeah, but I got Samsung Magician installed but it doesn't show my SSD.

Did you ever get the OS installed on that drive?
I'm starting to think it is DOA.

There is a Windows 10 Version installed on that SSD.

But I cant boot from it.

This "OS", from your other thread?
---------------------------
"I've tried installing Windows 3 times by now.
Everytime when it's done installing it restarts my pc and ends up in the bios.

I've dissconnected my fricking C and E Drive.
And installed it with a USB nothing works."
---------------------------

Something is not quite right.

Yes, that Thread.

Still, dont know how to get my SSD to work with Windows on it as main Boot Device.

There is nothing wrong with the Installation.
Because there was literally nothing on the Samsung SSD when I installed the OS on it.

It has to be some problem with the missing stuff from the CD which I got with the SSD.

I have 3 x Samsung SSD's. One of them, an 850EVO 500GB, exactly like yours. There is nothing on that CD that would do this or fix this.

But, you can download what you like, direct from Samsung.
Here: http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools/

Possibly you need the latest firmware, but that is not the problem here.

I've tried to do that many times, I don't know what to do with the ISO files it get there.

So Disk 3 is your new Samsung 850 Evo - right?
There is a slight problem with it. It has type - Dynamic. This is not recommended for a boot drive.

I'd clean it, convert to basic/GPT and reclone partitions (in partition to partition mode) from Disk 2.

I have zero Idea how to do that.

Reinstall again.

During the install, when it asks where, select Custom.
You'll be presented with a list of ALL existing partitions.
Delete ALL of them, leaving one large space.
This is when you tell it what format type to do.
GPT, not Dynamic.

And of course, do this with ONLY the EVO connected.
