I'm looking to get a 19" that is under 1 grand, preferably $5-600. I'm not a hardcore gamer, more casual. I like to play a game every once in awhile and just in case I become a hardcore gamer-doubtful but, I want the best bang for my buck so I want a LCD that will get the job done well for all possible uses. I don't do digital photography or graphics design, but I like to mess around in Photoshop occasionally.

One thing I do more than anything else with my PC is watch movies and listen to music. I eventually want to have is PVR and TV tuner to replace my ancient Mitsubishi 20". Dam good TV's though.

Which is the best 19" you would recommend? I hear good things about the Samsung SyncMaster 193P. Is this one my best bet? It costs more, but is it worth it? Should I wait awhile until a LCD that is going to come out soon which will have better technology? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I recently bought (and returned) the 193P - after reading tons of reviews, me and my friend tried out this baby of a flat-panel. Design-wise, it's _very_ sleek, attractive and 'state-of-the-art' looking, picture-quality and color-fidelity is higher that i've seen before on any LCD, and the bottonless OSD-software (magictune) works very well - BUT - it's useless for gaming, unless you play very slow games; both my friend and I observed great amounts of ghosting in UT2004, Thief 3, BF, Painkiller, FFXI, CS - you name it... The promised <20 ms simply isn't enough for even the casual FPS-gamer.
Personally, I'm waiting until 19" 12ms panels hit the market..

But for everything else, this is probably the best 19"-panel right now.

Plase anyone correct me, If i'm wrong, hope this helps you 😉

Thanks for the information. I do like FPS games. Even though, believe it or not I don't play that much CS. I know it's addicting because that's the only game my brother plays any chance he gets. Anyway, I think I'm going to wait for the
19" 12ms as well.
