Samsung SyncMaster P2370

Hello everyone,

i just bought 2 Samsung Syncmaster P2370 monitors. the guy i bought them off had a few spare wires which he gave me. the monitors only have a DVI connection on them. my video card is a AMD Radeon HD 5570, it has a VGA, HDMI and a DVI connection on it. I planned on using the DVI and HDMI connections for multi screen. The HDMI connection works great. also the VGA connection works great also, but it seems a little more foggy then the HDMI one. What i cant figure out it that the DVI connection on the P2370 monitor doesnt show a picture... it will register the monitor on my PC. I have tried using the same DVI cable on my old Monitor which is a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW and it works fine. I have check both P2370 monitors to make sure its wasnt the monitor. So what i am asking is that does anyone know why my P2370 monitors wont show picture when i use the DVI connection? i have done all the testing i could think of... and i cant figure out why this wont work...

the P2370 monitor doesnt work on its own with the DVI cable... but the Dvi cable does work with my other monitor its only when i try it on the p2370 monitor it doesnt work... but the DVI to HDMI and DVI to VGA cables work on the P2370 monitor... so im at a loss...

is the old monitor dvi-d or dvi-I as the new monitors are dvi-d?

the old monitor is DVI-D and the new monitors are DVI-I and i think that my DVI cable is a DVI-D cable would that mean my problem is that i just dont have the right cable?

thanks for the link... i havent figured it out as of yet... hopefully soon. the current issue i have is that the pc is making the sound like its connecting to my PC but nothing is showing up... the monitor seems to be going straight to sleep once i connect it. i bought a different cable today thinking that might be the problem but still nothing. i have attached a few photos of the ports and cables i am dealing with. maybe there is some you can notice that i am not.
