I have a GTX 908 Ti. I plugged my Samsung UN48JS8500 tv into using this cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787ZJ3GX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I know the cable works, I plugged my Xbox One X in with it and went to the 4k details screen and everything was good, including 60Hz, so I know the cable works. same TV input. I unplugged from pc and plugged into the xbox.

I can not set the TV to a 4k resolution. The highest resolution I can set it to is 1080p, 1920 x 1080. Windows knows that the native resolution is 4k x 2k, 3840 x 2160 (native), but I get a black screen with anything above 1080p.

Thanks for any help!

Try a different cable.
This is the 2nd cable that says it's good at 4k 60Hz. Can you recommend a cable?

but I don't think the cable is the issue. Other devices (Xbox) work at 4k 60Hz using the cable, like the original post says. I felt I went into detail explaining how the cable worked at 4k 60Hz on another device. I did try another cable before buying and trying this one. This one was certainly capable of 4k @60Hz, just as the last one was.

No 4k setting works regardless of Hz.

I came up with a solution. I'm plugging the same HDMI into a mini displayport adapter and then plugging the mini DP into a gtx 970 I have in the machine. It is now displaying 4k @60Hz. I have no idea why it won't work in the hdmi slot
