Samsung txr3079wh connecting to pc using hdmi cable

I have a acer ferrari 5000 laptop with a hdmi output and connected this to my trx3079wh samsung tv hdmi. I set the tv to hdmi for source and immediately got a connection. Problem is when I PLAY A MP4 MOVIE the tv only shows the first screen and never advances(kinda like it was stuck on frame 1) If I unplug the HDMI cable from the computer and then reinsert it the tv screen will show an updated frame but still does not play the movie. Suggestions?

Ican't find your tv on Samsung's website, nor your laptop model; I'm in the US. What program aer you using to play the movie and what screen resolution did you set it to?
