[citation][nom]orionantares[/nom]Does the PS3 hardware even support 1TB capacity?[/citation]

It's supports any storage 2.5 inch hard drive as long as it is Sata II(3.0gbps interface) and is formatted in fat32 which is the only file system it will recognize. But you'll want to format it with the ps3's internal formatting tool first once you install it.

My Seagate Momentus G 2.5" 7200rpm 500GB hard drive works well in my ps3.

As long as the ps3 can format the drive it will work.

[citation][nom]Bentonsl_2010[/nom]Wonder if this is a standard size hard drive or the bigger (taller) drive?[/citation]

It's apparently 3 mm too tall for most laptops.

If you google your laptop and 12.5mm there will normally be a couple posts from ppl saying if it will fit or not. I havent found a site that has some form of a spread sheet listing all viable laptops yet.

[citation][nom]ksampanna[/nom]Then which ones can?[/citation]
You would like someone in here to provide you with an exhaustive list of notebooks which can accept 12.5mm HDDs?
Do your own damn research!

[citation][nom]lauxenburg[/nom]WD already has one of these, but its 5200RPM for some reason. But this Samsung looks alright. Not really a WD person anyway.[/citation]
I love samsung for many things but 2 of my hard drives by them died within a year. Of owning 7 WD drives ranging from 3 to my laptops and 4 to my desktop...still yet to have them die...2+ yrs and counting. I know hard drives are sometimes tough luck...but I like to run with those I typically have less problems with.

I still like the fact that they have come out with such a large drive for notebooks [and all that will fit them]

[citation][nom]__-_-_-__[/nom]just get an SSD.12.5mm isn't notebook friendly[/citation]

My Asus G50vt has a slot that is at least 12.5mm deep. I would buy this drive for storage, and then an SSD in the other slot .. but I'd like my storage drive to have some speed too.
