Samsung, what do you make such a crap?!

Look at the picture attached to see how my CHG70 looks like when displaying a black screen... (I adjusted the exposition on my camera thoroughly, so the picture is showing more of less what I see - it is not exaggerated).

I wanted to replace it but got an answer from Samsung saying that they won't do that, as this is an integral "feature" of the technology the display was made in. Seriously Samsung? This is not an explanation for me at all - my question is then: why do you use the technology which ruins the entire experience during watching a film or playing a video game?

I am sorry for my ranting here - I created this thread purely as a warning for everybody who are going to purchase a monitor. Only do it if you may return the product without providing a reason. I guess a lot of people on this forum is aware that such crap is being made today, but still it might be useful for someone.

The overall black uniformity of this monitor is poor. When the local dimming is turned off, some backlight bleed is visible in much of the top and bottom part of the screen, leaving only some little portion of the screen free of it.

When the local dimming is turned on, it will turn off the backlight where nothing is displayed, and in the case of our test image, it turns off the backlight at the bottom and the top part. From our test point of view, this affect the uniformity of the screen though, as the middle part of the screen still have some clouding, versus the top and bottom which is now almost black, making the uniformity value much worse than before.

Note that here, we test the overall uniformity of the black, and not the black level.

Thank you for providing the link. It looks like the issue is present in every model of this display. I wouldn't have bought it, if I had a chance to read this review before.

It's good to know this site for the future :)
