Sandisk Extreme II SSD Slow

I recently bought a Sandisk Extreme II 240gb SSD to speed up my PC a bit. After installing the drive and doing a clean install of Windows, I get the following in AS-SSD benchmarks.

These speeds seem a little bit slow and I am confused what the cause may be.

My motherboard is an Asrock 960GM/U3S3 which has 2 SATA III ports (both use an ASMedia 106x Controller).

I've tried the following and my benches are still around the mark posted in the image:

  • Checked for latest firmware using the Sandisk SSD Toolkit (SSD has latest firmware)
Plugged the SSD into both the SATA III ports
    Re-installed Windows (tried both 7 & 8.1)
Tried both the pre-installed Windows AHCI driver & the ASMedia driver
BIOS reports that the SSD is running in AHCI mode

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't think its too bad? It's an Antec 550W PSU. I've got an AMD FX-6300, a Radeon 7870, the SSD and another HDD with some RAM and that's about all on it. Would that be enough to be pushing it to its limits?

Ah really? That's a bit of a shame.. will I notice any difference in day-to-day running compared to being able to reach the full speeds of the drive?

Device Manager on Windows 8.1 reports the ASMedia 106x SATA Controller is there. I used the latest available driver from ASRock. Benchmarks with both the MS default driver and the ASMedia driver give roughly the same speeds (tried with both on fresh installs)...

I checked the motherboard again, definitely plugged into the ASMedia ports. The manual says that they are SATA III 6.0gbs ports.

I took a photo of the ports and I noticed something that I think is a bit strange: http://i.imgur.com/YrCkmMV.jpg

There are the white SATA III ports named SATA3_1 and SATA3_2 respectively, however, underneath that is the label SATAII_5 and SATAII_6. Why would it be labelled this way..?

i am having similar problems , i have a sabertooth 990FX r 2 motherboard and sandisk ultra 2 120GB ssd and my benching seems awfull compared to the speeds that sata 6gb is supposed to give , around 500 meg i think?

my build cost me 700 and im now looking at sending the mobo back for one with a more ''true as advatised'' sata connection
